Flitetec launching new products at Dubai Airshow

Flitetec is heading to the international event after investing in technology, equipment, business systems, training and lean manufacturing processes which have doubled turnover and increased profitability.

Among the new products being launched by the company at the Dubai Airshow will be fixed and adjustable tablet holders for aircraft seats - all designed, engineered and manufactured in-house at Bucks-based Flitetec.

The company will also showcase its other products – including seats backs, meal tray tables and cabin and seat accessories – along with its enhanced design and engineering capabilities for the aircraft interiors market.

Flitetec managing director Trevor Lea said: “Investment and refocusing the business have given us new capabilities and expertise that we did not have two years ago. This has helped double turnover and increase profitability.

“As well as a far more extensive range of products, we also have the ability to meet short lead times for repair and replacement requirements in a cost effective way.

“We already have a number of valued clients in the Middle East and have targeted the region as a key emerging market.

“We are looking forward to launching our new tablet holder which will allow passengers to use their devices in comfort and connect with the onboard entertainment systems.

“Although we have built a strong track record in the aircraft interiors sector over 30 years, we have ambitious growth plans to move the business forward in the short, medium and long term.”

Flitetec’s direct clients include Air France, Thomson Airways, Iceland Air and KLM as well as many MRO companies.

It recently won a fleet-wide contract from Air France to design, manufacture and fit arm rests with USB power chargers and sockets for passengers to charge mobile phones and devices.

The company’s services include the design, manufacture, maintenance and repair of a wide range of aircraft interior products and spares from non-structural vacuum formed plastic mouldings and assemblies.

It has a substantial stock of polycarbonates which – along with its reverse engineering capabilities – means it can respond quickly to demanding timescales, typically delivering new and overhauled product in one to two weeks.

Flitetec also services a range of electro/mechanical aerospace legacy products and is looking to invest in additional maturing platforms to broaden its product lines.

The Dubai Airshow will feature more than 1,103 exhibitors and is expected to result in nearly $40 billion worth of deals.

Flitetec’s sister company FliteTrak – which supplies innovative remote intelligent monitoring and sensing technology for aircraft interiors – will also be exhibiting at Dubai.
