The award was presented at a grand ceremony hosted at the Conrad Hotel, Dubai.

Currently in its tenth edition, the Aviation Business Awards is a prestigious event that gives out awards annually in 15 categories, covering the airline, airport and cargo sectors to celebrate the achievements of leading players and their contributions to the region’s aerospace industry.

Adel Al Ali, Group chief executive officer of Air Arabia, said: “We are proud to have won this coveted title at Aviation Business Awards 2016. To be chosen as the best low-cost airline is a reflection of our commitment to continuously enhancing the guest experience and setting new standards in the affordable travel segment. The award belongs to our dedicated team of employees across all divisions, each of whom shares a common vision for Air Arabia’s continued growth and success.”

Analyst Saj Ahmad said: “As the first GCC low cost airline, Air Arabia has grown to become a household name within the region.

“Operating out of multipe hubs beyond its base in Sharjah, Air Arabia's pioneering pricing and affordability to the travelling public makes it a popular choice - that the airline has developed into one of the biggest in the GCC speaks to the continued investment and‎ appeal of the carrier.”

Ahmad added: “This comes despite regional turmoil in places like Syria and Yemen - and also against the backdrop of fierce competition, namely in the form of its neighbour and equally ambitious rival in Flydubai.

“Air Arabia has made air travel cheaper for many citizens flying to and through the UAE and this award is just one of many it has and will continue to win.”
